World Habitat is an independent, global housing charity based in the UK, which works to find, showcase and bring the best housing solutions to the places they are needed most. They have specific programmes which focus on awards, community-led housing and homelessness.
World Habitat has been an advocate of Housing First since awarding the Y-Foundation a World Habitat Award in 2014, leading to a peer exchange in Helsinki to introduce the concept of Housing First to several organisations from across the world. The World Habitat Awards have also recognised the work of Discus Housing First in Amsterdam (Silver Award in 2019). Although World Habitat does not provide any direct housing support or deliver Housing First projects, they have been running the European End Street Homelessness Campaign since 2015, which supports organisations in cities across Europe to work towards delivering good-quality Housing First services.
